Part 3 - Helpful Apps for Alzheimer's & Dementia Patients Part 4 - Helpful Apps for Alzheimer's & Dementia Support Introduction
This second series of smartphone applications focuses on apps that are explicitly tailored for use by both caregivers and patients of Alzheimer's or various other forms of dementia. Apps include those meant to be used individually, as well as in conjunction with each other on both the caregiver's and patient's cell phones, or with the patient being overseen by their caregiver during the software's usage.
Most apps are freely available on both platforms with a few having a low one time fee or being exclusively available on either iOS or Android.

Part 3 - Helpful Apps for Alzheimer's & Dementia Patients Part 4 - Helpful Apps for Alzheimer's & Dementia Support Introduction
Unlike our previous collections of more general caregiving apps that have been posted before [Part 1, Part 2] these particular apps for smartphones, both iOS (iPhone & iPad) and Android, have explicitly been tailored for caregivers of Alzheimer's and dementia patients with cognitive decline.
While all apps aren't available across all platforms, there's a wide variety of choices for those seeking information, support, and advice when it comes to dealing with these difficult diseases. Apps for Caregivers
By Anna Hazard The second in our series of stress relief games that are both free and available online, this article focuses on the type of tension relieving games that tend to be more energetic, often featuring cartoonish or otherwise goofy violence that will allow one to safely vent and otherwise blow off steam. By Anna Hazard Stress can be the bane of both caregivers and patients alike and left unchecked, excessive levels can cause multiple health problems ranging from depression to insomnia to high blood pressure.
One of the easiest ways to counteract stress and prevent burnout is by indulging in some quick, attention-diverting amusements (such as these free & easy to use online games) every so often and especially when pressures and worries begin to feel overwhelming. Studies have even indicated that playing such games reduces the level of the stress-related hormone cortisol. There are two types of games specifically meant to address stress -- 1) relaxing & otherwise calming games that are meant to put you into a meditative mood and 2) tension relieving games that tend to be more energetic, often featuring cartoonish or otherwise goofy violence that will allow one to safely vent and blow off steam. This blog post will focus on the first set of games -- those meant to calm and relax. Check out the next article HERE for the second set of stress busting games. By Anna Hazard
By Anna Hazard The second set in this series (view the previous Helpful Apps for Caregivers - Part 1), these apps were not specifically designed with caregivers in mind, but still provide obvious benefits to the harried caretaker, whether it's through making organization or medical research easier or just by being a good way to relax or let off pent-up stress. Other apps previously suggested in our Helpful Apps for Seniors series (such as Mint: Money Manager, Evernote, or Wunderlist) could also greatly benefit the caregivers looking after their seniors.
By Anna Hazard The current technology boom is not only directly beneficial to seniors but also to those who may be taking care of them. Scheduling, tracking, researching info, and sharing updates both medical and personal has never been easier with these companion apps to our previous recommended smartphone apps for seniors. Leaving out such apps as GreatCall Link, Comfort Zone Check-in, or Care.com Mobile which require a subscription service or the purchase of further equipment, this first set of apps are advertised as being specifically tailored for caregivers, especially for those involved in eldercare or seniorcare. The iOS platform (for iPhone or iPad) in particular has several popular apps dedicated to caring for those suffering from Alzheimer's or dementia.

With more than 50% of those over age 50 in the USA now having their own smart phones, software programmers have started widening their target audience from just the younger generations. Here is the second set in the series of smartphone apps (for iOS or Android) that have convenient, beneficial, or popular uses for the elderly. The first set of app suggestions can be seen HERE.
